Cheap Move Out Cleaning Services

Want to know the secret for cleaning your apartment

on the cheap?

Cleaning services for move outs cost, on average, $200 for a 1,000 sq. ft. place. However, if your carpet has back hair and your shower is scummier than a con artist at a retirement home, then you might need some additional help.

Even if you have to hire a cleaning company, you can still lower the cost of cleaning by, you guessed it, doing some of the work yourself.

Telling Your Roommate You're Moving Out

It’s not going to be fun. There’s nothing more insulting than hearing somebody doesn’t want to live with you anymore. However, you’re going to need to do it. You’re going to need to tell your roommate you’re moving out.

There are good ways to do this, and bad ways. Here are some good ways to break the news:

  • Over dinner – Go out, enjoy the night, and midway

through break it to them as easy as can be. The goodwill of dinner should make it easier to swallow.

  • Via letter – A well-thought-out letter is a great way to communicate about awkward issues. Don’t try texting, though. It has a different, more informal feel.
  • Face-to-face – Hey, sometimes you just have to break the news, and being up front about it is at least honest. Think about what you will say first so you don’t end up saying something you’ll regret. Also, pick a good time, like a Saturday afternoon — don’t break the news during a stressful time for your roomy.

Top 10 Reasons to Move Out

Moving out on your own is a big decision. How will you feel about having to handle an entire electric bill; and where will you borrow toothpaste from; and who will you talk to when you’ve had a terrible day at work and you’re still writing blog posts, I mean, what it’s already 8:50?, I can’t believe it…

Who will you complain to then?

Nevertheless, for thousands of us, living alone is a virtue. Here are the top 10 reasons to move out one your own:

  1. Your roommate smells of rotten pancakes, and you have no faith in your next roommate smelling any better.
  2. Your mother has been nagging you to take out the trash for 19 years too long.
  3. You just got a new job and no longer need to live in a glorified commune.
  4. Graduate school requires studying, and studying requires silence.
  5. You hate dishes in the sink. Or you hate doing dishes. One of the two.
  6. You have chosen not to own a pet, because you don’t want to live in a house with a pet. It’s that simple.
  7. Remote-control-related power struggles weird you out.
  8. You grew up in the room you’re reading this in.
  9. Your inner Van Gogh is telling you to paint the walls magenta-green candy cane.
  10. It’s time. It’s just time.

Learn how to move out on your own so you don’t screw it up, because it’s not easy.

Best Way to Break a Lease

So you want to know the best way to break a lease?

Well, the absolute best way to break a lease is to sign a month-to-month lease. That way, at worst, you only owe an extra month of rent.

However, assuming that’s not an option, the best way to break a lease is to find somebody to take over your lease. This can be by sublease or assignment. However, even if you aren’t allowed to sublease, if the person wants your particular unit (and the unit is unique), your landlord will probably be obligated to rent that unit, allowing you to break your lease with minimal loss.
