There are many different types of moving companies out there, but they are all either local or long distance. When you’re deciding how to move, choosing local movers or long distance moving companies will be one of the first things you do. But how do they differ?
Local Movers
Local moving companies service a relatively
small area, often between a couple hours and half a day’s drive away. You can find a local mover in either the city you live in or the one you’re going to.
Pros:
- Know the area well
- Cheaper
- More flexible charges
Cons:
- Hard to find reputable ones
- Risk of moving scams greater
Long Distance Movers
Long-distance moving companies are usually national chains with locations in many cities across the country. They have the resources to help you move no matter where you’re going.
Pros:
- More resources
- Strong reputations
- Easy to find
Cons:
- More expensive
- Lack particular knowledge about most areas
- Difficult to get the “personal” feel common to many small businesses
